Best Mavericks-Nuggets Prop Bet: Back Dorian Finney-Smith From Deep

After a solid win over the Phoenix Suns, the Dallas Mavericks will face the Denver Nuggets in the second leg of a back-to-back set. The Nuggets have had an extra day of rest following their loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday. The Nuggets are favored in the NBA odds, but bettors looking for a sharp player prop bet should tail the below Mavericks-Nuggets player prop or or check out OddsShopper’s tools for other plays.

Best Mavericks-Nuggets Prop Bet | December 6

Dorian Finney-Smith O/U 1.5 Made 3’s

The Dallas Mavericks have a number of talented big wings and centers, especially after the addition of Christian Wood. But despite Wood’s arrival, Dorian Finney-Smith has continued to play a large role in Dallas’ rotation and is averaging 32.7 minutes, 1.7 made 3’s and 5.3 attempted 3’s per game. The big wing has gone over this number for made 3’s in 11 of his 23 starts.

The matchup and situation point to some value here as well. The Mavericks were able to hold Finney-Smith to only 23 minutes in last night’s win over the Suns, so he comes into tonight’s matchup relatively fresh. The Nuggets, although a solid defensive team, have been vulnerable to corner 3’s this year. They have given up the 14th-most makes (3.2) on the sixth-most attempts (9.1) this season.

The Nuggets have proven especially vulnerable on the right corner. They have allowed 50% of attempted corner 3’s from that part of the court. Finney-Smith leads the Mavericks in both makes (0.6) and makes (1.4) from the right corner. Of Dallas’ regular rotation members, only Spencer Dinwiddie has converted 3’s from the right corner at a higher rate than Finney-Smith’s 40.6%.

Finney-Smith has faced the Nuggets twice already. Although he shot 1-for-4 from the perimeter both times, he faced a much different Nuggets team than the one he’ll face tonight. Denver played without Jamal Murray, Aaron Gordon and Nikola Jokic in those contests, but all three will return for Tuesday’s action. Further, Michael Porter Jr. was available in both games but is now out with a heel injury.
