2022 NBA Draft Betting Predictions: Top 3 Draft Prop Bets Tonight

The confetti has barely settled from the Golden State Warriors capturing another championship, but the 2022 NBA Draft is already here and it promises to shake up the landscape of the league. The Orlando Magic hold the keys at the very top of the draft with the No. 1 overall pick, and they’re going to have their choice to add to a young core that looks to have plenty of potential. There is still money to be made all over the draft board ,so let’s jump in and find out a few of the best 2022 NBA Draft predictions and best prop bets tonight.

2022 NBA Draft Prop Bets & Predictions

Jaden Ivey Exact Overall Pick

This wager is still as low as -130 to -150 in some spots, and that’s something that likely will not stay. It has become a cliche to say “The draft starts at four” over the past few weeks, but sometimes things turn into cliches because they are true. There is no disagreement among the consensus that Jabari Smith, Paolo Banchero and Chet Holmgren are going 1-2-3, even if the order of those three has been hotly contested. The one movement in the past 36 hours especially has been wild to track, but Jaden Ivey is almost surely the next man up. The Sacramento Kings have been reported to be courting trade partners, in part because they have guards De’Aaron Fox and Davion Mitchell already in the backcourt, and the list of suitors for the fourth pick seems quite long.

There have also been rumors about Ivey flat out saying the Kings are not his “preferred destination.” The guard from Purdue has even drawn some comparisons to Memphis star Ja Morant through the process, and he can creatively get to the hoop with drives and pass effectively as well. Those traits are becoming nearly must-have qualities for star guards in the NBA, and even if the Kings are unwilling to take him, the Atlanta Hawks, New York Knicks, Oklahoma City Thunder and Washington Wizards are just a handful of the teams rumored to be interested. With Ivey being the consensus top guard in the draft, there appears to be little chance of him falling outside of the fourth pick.

Best NBA Draft Prop Bet Tonight: Jaden Ivey to be No. 4 Overall Draft Pick

Bennedict Mathurin O/U 6.5 Draft Position

Ivey seems like a fairly safe wager, so now it’s time to take a risk and predict that Bennedict Mathurin goes at the seventh pick or later. In one mock draft done at BetMGM, Mathurin is not projected to be picked until the early double digits, and that would be quite the buffer. Some mocks have him as high as fifth to the Detroit Pistons or sixth to the Indiana Pacers, but there also is never a way to know if those teams hold on to those picks. Mathurin is a very good combo guard that can play a similar style to C.J. McCollum, but Dyson Daniels also has a sweet combination between his shooting stroke and on-ball defense that makes him a very appealing pick to any team on the board.

Mathurin’s size is something that could wind up being a limitation at just 6-foot-4 and 205 pounds currently, and he may not be best suited for the point guard role in the NBA and could be slotted into the shooting guard role. That profile would fit well with the Pistons since they have Cade Cunningham, but the fifth overall pick may be a bit rich for Mathurin. Despite the reports of him impressing in pre-draft functions, the size and potential to be a shooting guard could hold him out of the top six picks. This is the riskiest wager of the bunch, so be sure to manage the bankroll accordingly.

Best NBA Draft Prop Bet Tonight: Bennedict Mathurin OVER 6.5 Draft Position

Ochai Agbaji O/U 14.5 Draft Position

Ochai Agbaji looks to sneak into the lottery, and there are numerous teams that he could make a strong fit. Agbaji was a hard worker off the ball in Kansas, and that would make him appealing to teams like the Cavaliers, Thunder or potentially even the Hornets, as all three of those teams have ball-dominant guards in place. Agbaji will not be the fastest player on the floor, but he can be a physical presence on both ends, and he’s currently tied with a bevy of players for the sixth-best odds to be selected No. 1. Of course, that’s not going to happen, but it shows he’s been well-regarded through the process, and being picked by 14th at the latest is just -122 of the ROI. When a player shoots 40% from 3-point range and brings other assets to the table, as Agbaji did last year in Kansas, he’s sure to garner attention high in the draft. The NBA craves 3-and-D wing players, and Agbaji fits that bill perfectly. He shouldn’t escape the lottery without hearing his name called.

Best NBA Draft Prop Bet Tonight: Ochai Agbaji UNDER 14.5 Draft Position

Jalen Duren O/U 10.5 Draft Position

This wager can still be had for odds as good as +106, and Jalen Duren has the potential to be a game-altering center for someone. The center out of Memphis can excel in the transition game, and perhaps the perfect fit would be the New Orleans Pelicans at eighth overall. Duren would have the luxury of not needing to play right away and learning from Jonas Valanciunas, who is a strong offensive player as well. Duren is very difficult to box out on rebounding opportunities, and that would make for a formidable duo down low with Zion Williamson if he were to fall to New Orleans. The opportunity to play bully ball with those two and have the offense built with them cutting and posting up would be a major challenge for opposing teams to deal with. Duren’s 7-foot-5 wingspan is going to be an issue on the defensive end for anyone trying to shoot over him as well, and even if he doesn’t go to New Orleans, the Trail Blazers, Wizards and Spurs may not be shy about adding a talented big man.
