College Football Playoff Betting Odds: Lines For All Possible National Championship Scenarios

The Georgia Bulldogs will enter the College Football Playoff as the betting favorites to win the National Championship. But there are certainly other outcomes that could present themselves. With Georgia facing the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Michigan Wolverines facing the TCU Horned Frogs in the semifinals, let’s look at the College Football Playoff odds for the possible National Championship scenarios.

College Football Playoff Odds for National Championship

Earlier this week, per Caesar’s Sportsbook’s Max Meyer, Ohio State would be a 2.5-point favorite if it were to play Michigan in a rematch of “The Game,” Georgia would be an 8-point favorite over Michigan if the favorites win in the semifinals, Ohio State would be a 10.5-point favorite over over TCU, and Georgia would be a 17.5-point favorite against TCU.

Per DraftKings, Georgia is the odds-on favorite to win the National Championship (-125), followed by Michigan (+290), Ohio State (+360) and TCU (+1600).

There was some question whether TCU would be granted a spot in the College Football Playoff by the committee after it lost to Kansas State in overtime in the Big 12 Championship. But its undefeated regular-season record spoke for itself, and the Horned Frogs will be heavy underdogs to hang with the three other college football blue bloods.

Ohio State likely thought its chances of going to the College Football Playoff were shattered when it lost to bitter rival Michigan for a second straight season, thus missing out playing for the Big Ten Championship. But now the Buckeyes will have the chance to reach their national championship goals. They’ll have to put together their best performance of the season against an incredible Georgia defense.

Michigan knows that going up against that defense at this time of year is a tall task. After reaching the playoff for the first time, the Wolverines were held to 11 points in a 23-point loss to the Bulldogs in last year’s semifinal. Thanks to another magical season, the Wolverines will have the chance to prove that this team is much better than what they showed up with last time around.

Michigan is an 8-point favorite over TCU, with Georgia a 6.5-point favorite over Ohio State in the semifinals.
