Temple vs. Navy Prediction and Odds: It’s All About The Run Game

The college football season is far from over, but time for a lot of teams to make something of the season may be winding down. This matchup is featuring both teams who are 2-5 and desperate for a win. In this post, we’ll continue our college football odds series by showcasing our best Temple-Navy prediction and picks.

In this contest, the Temple Owls will go on the road to face the Navy Midshipmen. Kickoff is scheduled for a Saturday 2:30pm CST kick and it is going to be incredibly interesting to see how both teams matchup against each other. Both teams are also coming off of a loss and Saturday is a tremendous opportunity to bounce back and take a step in the right direction.

Temple-Navy Predictions and Betting Picks

Owls Can’t Find Rhythm

At 125th in the FBS in total offense, it has been a very frustrating year for this Temple team and it is very hard to win games if you can’t successfully move the football down the field. The Owls have also failed to score over 16 points since September, and they will need to see much improvement if they are going to be the least bit competitive for the remainder of conference play.

While the offense has been abysmal, the defense has actually been pretty solid and has kept them in some ball games. Temple is 4th in the conference in total defense and will look to shut down this run-heavy Navy offense if they are going to have a chance.

Upsetting Spot for Navy

After a 4-8 campaign last season, this is shaping up to be another disappointing season for Navy who has been a consistently competitive program over the past couple decades. This is a team who has lost 2 straight and has been giving up way too many points in the process. This is a team who can run the football and ranks first in the conference in total rushing yards on the season.

The problem with their offense is that they don’t stray too far from their scheme and may need to make adjustments against a defense who is good at keeping teams out of the end zone. This is a team who is 5th in the conference in total defense and actually ranks 13th in the FBS in rushing defense which has been a positive takeaway this season. If this offense can find some rhythm and the defense can put together some stops, this team should put themselves in the position for a win on Saturday.

Temple-Navy Predictions

Temple goes on the road once again as underdogs this season and Navy is a 14-point home favorite for this game. These are two teams that are struggling as of late, and have both shown the inability to put points up on the board at times this season as well which is why the 41-point game total makes sense for this contest. While Navy has not had their best season, they are still the better team here.

The Midshipmen are 4-3 against the spread this season and look for this record to improve as they look good to cover this 14-point spread on Saturday and get back on track with a victory. The 41-point total is low but makes me pause. Navy has had a great rushing offense and has shown they like to push tempo, as they are 32nd in the country in plays ran per game. I see Navy running all over this Temple defense and for this game to finish over the 41-point total.

College Football Odds: Final Temple-Navy Prediction: Navy -14, Over 41
