Toledo vs. Ohio Prediction & Odds: Dequan Finn Battling Injury Ahead of MAC Championship Game

It is championship week, and the slate of games this weekend should be one to remember. In this post, we’ll be making our Toledo-Ohio prediction and pick.

What is always exciting about this week is that every game means something, so there is really no team to take lightly this weekend. The MAC championship game is an interesting matchup of two programs that have dealt with a lot of injuries throughout the year, which will have major implications on the result. The Toledo Rockets will be matched up with the Ohio Bobcats to begin Conference Championship Saturday.

Toledo Looks to Finish Strong

It has been a roller coaster of a season for Toledo, but going out on top in the MAC was a goal from the start. At 7-5, the Rockets have proven they can win tough ball games, but they have also shown a lack of discipline late in games. If the Rockets want to take home a title this weekend, the health of its roster will be a major factor. One of the major question marks that still surrounds this program is the health of quarterback Dequan Finn. He was limited in last Friday’s loss to Western Michigan, and when he did play, it was apparent he was not 100%.

Whether it is Finn or Tucker Gleason getting the start, the Rockets will need production out of their offense and also need the defense to continue its strong play. The Rockets rank 37th in the FBS in total defense and 24th in opponent points per game. Toledo needs to play its best in all phases against Ohio, who has been dealing with some major injuries themselves.

Shorthanded Ohio Still Ready to Roll

Ohio comes into the game with a 9-3 record, but its success has come at a steep price. Quarterback Kurtis Rourke recently had ACL surgery and will be out for the remainder of the year. C.J. Harris got the start under center for the Bobcats last week in their win over Bowling Green, and Harris impressed. He threw for 196 yards and a touchdown while also being incredibly dynamic on the ground, as he ran in three touchdowns. On Saturday, the Bobcats will have a tough test against the best defense in the conference and one of the best in the country. Harris will need to do what he did last week to bring home the title.

Final Toledo-Ohio Prediction & Pick

This is a great matchup for the MAC Championship, and it will be interesting to see how both teams respond after dealing with injuries. Finn will give it a go for Toledo, and although he may not be at full strength just yet, the Rockets will need him to beat Ohio. Toledo should cover the 3-point spread behind its strong defense since Ohio is without one of its most important pieces.

Under 54.5 is also a good play. Although Toledo has been able to push the pace on offense this season, Ohio has been much slower, as it ranks 82nd in plays per game and 110th in seconds per play. Ohio has found success putting points up on the board, but with a new quarterback and Toledo having a very strong defense, it should have its hands full on Saturday.

Final Toledo-Ohio Prediction: Toledo -3 (-110) at BetMGM

Game Total UNDER 54.5 Points (-110)
