Jameis Winston Injury News: Ankle Issue Adds to Saints QB’s Mounting List of Injuries Heading into NFL Week 3

After just two weeks of action, New Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston is already dealing with a couple of different injuries.

The Saints revealed last week that their starting quarterback is dealing with four different fractures to his back.

The team has now announced  that Winston was being careful during Wednesday’s practice. However, this time the announcement came for a completely different injury designation altogether.

According to the team injury report, Winston was limited on Wednesday due to an ankle issue.

Injuries Come Amidst Offensive Struggles

Winston struggled mightily against an elite Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense last Sunday. He completed 25 of 40 passes for 236 yards and one touchdown. It was his three interceptions that really plagued the Saints during the 20-10 loss to their division rival.

“My main goal is to find a way to get better every day, whatever it is with my body, whether it’s conceptionally, as a leader,” Winston said (first transcribed by ProFootballTalk). “Like I’m trying to find a way to get better every single day. That doesn’t stop no matter the circumstances.”

While Saints fans might want to give Winston a week off of game action so he can fully heal from his separate injuries, it appears as though he’ll be under center when the team takes on the Carolina Panthers this Sunday.

“Look, that’s a good defense we played,” Saints coach Dennis Allen said of Winston’s struggles against Tampa Bay. “They do a pretty good job in terms of their rush coverage and some of their pressure packages and things. We’ll get back and look at the tape to see where we can improve. There were a couple throws that I think he missed that typically he wouldn’t. But we’ll have to evaluate the tape.”
