Ezekiel Elliott vs. Tony Pollard: Which Cowboys Running Back Has More Fantasy Football, DFS Value in SNF?

Will it be Ezekiel Elliott or Tony Pollard who proves to be the more productive Dallas Cowboys running back this week? Ahead of the Sunday Night Football matchup against the Indianapolis Colts, let’s take a look at the Ezekiel ElliottTony Pollard fantasy football and DFS rankings.

Ezekiel ElliottTony Pollard Fantasy Football & DFS Rankings

Per the Stokastic weekly running back rankings, Tony Pollard (No. 15 on the board) ranks ahead of Ezekiel Elliott (No. 27). And using the player compare tool, Pollard projects at 15.59 points, with Elliott at 11.18.

In DFS, the expert projections list Pollard ($6,500) as the better option than Elliott ($5,800).

The running backs have been splitting the load for most of the season, with Pollard filling the lead back role when Elliott was injured for two games. Pollard has been the more impressive back for most of the season, with 5.6 yards per carry compared to Elliott’s 4.1. Pollard also has been the more reliable pass-catcher, with 23 receptions for 244 yards and two touchdowns.

“I don’t look at it the way everybody wants to look at it,” Dallas coach Mike McCarthy said on 105.3 The Fan. “It’s not one against the other; it’s the benefit of having both of them. Obviously, Tony’s numbers speak for themselves and his style of running.

“But the thing about Zeke, especially in the game like we’re getting ready to play here on Sunday, there aren’t too many people who want to tackle Ezekiel Elliott, let’s be honest. I go back to the first time I saw him play in 2016 up there [in Green Bay]. He came ripping past our sideline, and I was like, ‘Holy hell …’ He’s a powerful runner. Those are things that don’t show up on a stat sheet, but Zeke brings a toughness, an attitude, you talk about a great teammate. There are so many other great qualities that he has that do not show up as rushing attempts.”

In a Week 12 win against the New York Giants, Elliott outshined Pollard, rushing for 92 yards and one touchdown. But Pollard had more carries and played 59% of the snaps.

Whether McCarthy wants to admit it or not, it’s clear Tony Pollard is the first choice over Ezekiel Elliott right now. But having two serviceable backs at your disposal is certainly a welcome luxury as the Cowboys set their sights on making a run at the Super Bowl.
