Fantasy Football Week 4 Waiver Wire Options: Jamaal Williams & Khalil Herbert Emerge After Strong Week 3 Performances

Are Jamaal Williams and Khalil Herbert worth a look on the Week 4 fantasy football waiver wire?

Following breakout performances in Week 3, both running backs have been hot names on the waiver wire for Week 4, so let’s dive into the potential impact each could have on your fantasy football roster.

Khalil Herbert & Jamaal Williams Fantasy Football Ranking & Analysis

After Chicago Bears running back David Montgomery went down with a leg injury during the Week 3 game against the Houston Texans, Herbert came in and immediately dominated for the Bears.

The second-year pro churned out 157 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries, adding two catches for 12 yards on his afternoon. If the Bears are without Montgomery for their game against the New York Giants this week, Herbert should slot in somewhere among the RB2/flex options for this week.

Bears head coach Matt Eberflus called the initial prognosis on Montgomery’s injury “good”, and added that he’s day-to-day with the lower leg injury, so we’ll keep tabs on that situation before deeming Herbert a starter for Week 4.

Williams, on the other hand, might be a more clear option for Week 4. The Detroit Lions running back remains available in 32% of ESPN fantasy leagues and easily had his most impressive performance in Week 3.

The veteran took over the primary duties when D’Andre Swift suffered a shoulder injury, running 20 times for 87 yards and two touchdowns in the loss to the Minnesota Vikings. In our Stokastic NFL Start/Sit Fantasy Football Rankings, we have Williams all the way up to the No. 2 ranked running back for Week 4, given a favorable matchup against a rather weak Seattle Seahawks defense.

Another name to keep an eye on is Minnesota Vikings backup running back Alexander Mattison. On Sunday, Vikings starter Dalvin Cook was removed from the game with a shoulder injury, but head coach Kevin O’Connell sounded relatively optimistic, calling the injury “day-to-day”.

We’ll continue to monitor injury news ahead of the Week 4 matchups this Sunday.
