Garrett Wilson Injury News: Jets Rookie Receiver Leaves With Back Issue Amid Breakout Performance Against Browns

New York Jets rookie receiver Garrett Wilson was enjoying quite the afternoon on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.

Wilson had three catches for 25 yards and his first career NFL touchdown. But during the second half, Wilson was forced to come out of the game after landing awkwardly when trying to make a play.

The Jets are calling the injury a back issue. He is officially questionable to return to the game.

Garrett Wilson was drafted with the 10th overall selection by the Jets in the offseason after being a standout at Ohio State University. The team is hoping to build some chemistry between the receiver and second-year quarterback Zach Wilson, so it’s obviously not ideal that the receiver would have any sort of injury while the QB1 is already out with injury.

“The dude is a sponge,” Zach Wilson said of Garrett, via Phil Harrison of USA TODAY. “He’s soaking it up, he’s learning a bunch. With being a rookie, just like me last year, you can’t really show exactly what you got until you can line up correctly and be confident in what you’re doing. He’s going through that learning stage still, but he’s a quick learner. You can see the talent jump off the page, he’s a really good player. He definitely has the skills, the toolset, and definitely the mindset to be great.”

Hopefully the injury is nothing serious for Wilson, but he was certainly in pain when down on the field. We’ll continue to track for any more updates.
