Jalen Hurts Injury Update: Line Movements Following Latest News

Will Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts be back in Week 17? After Gardner Minshew filled in under center for the Eagles’ loss to the Dallas Cowboys over the weekend, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported on Monday morning that Hurts is doing everything in his power to try to play against the Cleveland Browns in Week 17.

“Had they beaten the Cowboys, I would say there’s no chance we were going to see Jalen Hurts this weekend against these New Orleans Saints,” Rapoport said on Monday’s Good Morning Football. “But, the Eagles didn’t win, so now they need to win. They need to get the No. 1 seed, still want to get a bye. It’s all out there for them. Jalen Hurts is going to push to play this week. … Still up in the air about whether or not he goes. I’m just saying there’s at least a chance.”

Eagles-Saints Betting Line Following Jalen Hurts Injury News

Per DraftKings, the Eagles are currently a seven-point favorite at home in Week 17, with the over/under set at 44. The Saints opened as just a three-point underdog.

Prior to suffering a sprained shoulder in the Week 15 win over the Chicago Bears, Jalen Hurts had taken over as a betting favorite to win the MVP Award. But that title now belongs to Patrick Mahomes, who lists as a heavy -500 favorite after turning in another solid performance in a  win over the Seattle Seahawks.

Regardless of the MVP race seemingly falling out of Hurts’ grasp, the Eagles and him have bigger plans for their season, and they’ll likely need their QB to come back to full health if they want to achieve those Super Bowl aspirations.

“If Jalen’s ready to go, Jalen will play,” Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said after the 40-34 loss via PFT. “He’s our starting quarterback. If he’s ready to go, then he’ll go. Again, like I said, that’s nothing against Gardner, because I thought he played a really good game, but if Jalen’s ready, he’ll go.”

In relief of Jalen Hurts, Gardner Minshew went 24 of 40 for 355 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. We’ll continue to track for any more updates throughout the week on the potential availability of Hurts in Week 17.
