James Conner vs. Eli Mitchell: Who Has More Fantasy Football, DFS Value For Monday Night Football?

Even with Christian McCaffrey in the fold for the San Francisco 49ers, running back Eli Mitchell still saw a healthy dose of action in his return from injury in Week 10. With the Arizona Cardinals likely to ride out James Conner during their matchup with the Niners on MNF, let’s take a look at the Eli Mitchell-James Conner fantasy football & DFS rankings.

James ConnerElijah Mitchell Fantasy Football & DFS Ranking

Per our Stokastic weekly running back rankings, James Conner (No. 17 on the board) is ranked well ahead of Eli Mitchell (No. 40). Conner is projected at 13.20 fantasy points, while Mitchell is at just 6.63.

Using our expert DFS projections, Conner ($8,600) is also listed as a more valuable play than Mitchell ($5,800) on DraftKings.

Following the Cardinals’ release of running back Eno Benjamin ahead of Week 10, it’s been all James Conner in their backfield. Conner played in 96% of the team’s offensive snaps in their 27-17 Week 10 win over the Los Angeles Rams. He carried the ball 21 times for 69 yards and two touchdowns.

Mitchell also made his presence felt in Week 10 for the 49ers. He carried the ball 18 times for 89 yards. However, Mitchell only played on 35% of overall snaps in his return from a Week 1 injury.

“I really don’t mind at all, when it’s a run play, who’s in,” head coach Kyle Shanahan said this morning on KNBR’s Murph & Mac show via 49ers Webzone. “Both of those guys, to me, can run the ball at a very high level, and their skill sets are pretty similar. I mean, they have a little bit different style, but there’s not one run that one guy can do that the other guy can’t do.”

Expect Shanahan to continue using Mitchell to keep McCaffrey fresh and give defenses a different look.  Still, it’s hard to imagine that Mitchell will be on the field enough to warrant playing him over James Conner. Go with the Cardinals running back if you’re between these two.
