Jameson Williams Fantasy Football News: Is the Rookie Wideout Worthy of a Waiver Wire Pick Up?

Is Jameson Williams worth a pickup on the fantasy football waiver wire? On Monday afternoon, it was reported that the Alabama product had participated in his first practice with the Detroit Lions since tearing his ACL in the National Championship game last season. In this post, we’ll provide our Jameson Williams fantasy ranking, his value and overall analysis.

Jameson Williams Fantasy Value After Being Cleared For Practice

Jameson Williams will now join Amon-Ra St. Brown in what should be a star-studded receiver room for the the Lions. As the Lions preparing for a Thanksgiving Day matchup against the Bills, Williams’ teammates couldn’t help but be impressed with what they saw from him on the practice field.

“He’s just got so much speed, man,” quarterback Jared Goff said on Monday evening via Michigan Live. “He’s got so much ability. Any way that we can use him, whenever that time is he comes back, it’ll give us a boost, someway, somehow, however many snaps that ends up being, however many balls he ends up catching. Just having him on the field and having his ability to threaten people vertically and to turn a 5-yard throw into a 60-yard gain, that type of stuff, it’s dangerous.”

While it’s not clear how Jameson Williams will hold up against NFL defenses, it’s easy to see why the Lions are so excited about what the future could hold for the young wideout. During his 2021 college season with the University of Alabama Crimson Tide, Williams 79 receptions for 1,572 yards and 18 touchdown, proving to be one of the most explosive players in the nation.

The Lions will have the luxury of being cautious with Williams during their rebuilding season, but one thing is clear: his speed can hold up at the NFL level.

“I know this: He can run,” head coach Dan Campbell said. “He can run. You either got it or you don’t, and he’s got it. So, in that regard, he can help.”

It’s unlikely that Jameson Williams will suit up on Thanksgiving, but his situation is worth keeping an eye on. Still, it’s probably best to wait before adding him to any non-dynasty fantasy football league.
