Kyler Murray vs. Mac Jones: Which Quarterback Ranks Better For Fantasy Football, DFS Ahead of MNF?

Will either Kyler Murray or Mac Jones turn around their disappointing season on Monday Night Football? Ahead of the New England Patriots vs. Arizona Cardinals matchup, let’s take a look at the Kyler MurrayMac Jones fantasy football & DFS rankings and see who has more value ahead of the tilt.

Kyler MurrayMac Jones Fantasy Football & DFS Ranking

Per our Stokastic weekly fantasy football rankings, Kyler Murray (No. 11 on the board) ranks slightly ahead of Mac Jones (No. 13). And using our free player compare tool, Murray projects to have 19.20 fantasy points, with Jones projecting at 16.84 points.

But in DFS, it’s a little but of a different story. Given the pricing difference between Murray ($11,200) and Jones ($9,600), we see Jones as the slightly more valuable play in our expert projections.

After a strong rookie season, Mac Jones has struggled with consistency throughout this season. On the year, Jones has thrown seven touchdowns to go along with seven interceptions. Jones was coming off back-to-back solid performances against the New York Jets and Minnesota Vikings before he struggled against the rival Buffalo Bills in Week 13. He completed just 22 of 26 passes for 195 yards and a touchdown in the loss. During the game, Jones was seen yelling at offensive play-caller Matt Patricia, but brushed it off int he postgame press conference.

“We’re all super competitive. Any time it doesn’t look good on film, we want to be coached hard,” Jones said, per WEEI. “That’s what our coaches are going to do. It’s everybody being accountable. That’s the definition of tough coaching — it’s hard conversions. If something may have not gotten right with a player, ‘Hey, you did this wrong.’ As a player, it’s, ‘OK, how can I fix it?’ I think our coaches have done that and we have to lock into that and ‘Alright, what’s the problem and how can I solve it?’

Luckily for Mac Jones and the Patriots coaching staff, they’ll be going up against a Cardinals defense that ranks 30th in fantasy football points allowed to opposing quarterbacks. They have allowed over 20 points to quarterbacks in five of their past six games.

It’s been a difficult year for Kyler Murray and the Cardinals (4-8), as well. Despite coming into he season with playoff and Super Bowl aspirations, they’ve suffered from injuries and inconsistencies on both sides of the ball, and Murray has let his frustrations be known all season long. Now, they’re coming off a bye week and Murray is coming off a strong performance against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 12. But the Patriots and Bill Belichick have proven to be stingy against opposing quarterbacks in the past, allowing the third-least passing yards (2,407) in the league. It’s a tall task to contain Kyler Murray and keep him from using his elite speed, but expect Belichick and his defense to do their best to limit his talents.

Kyler Murray is likely the better bet to put up more fantasy points on Monday night, but don’t be shocked if Mac Jones outplays the dynamic dual-threat quarterback given the circumstances.
