Calgary Flames 60 Minute Moneyline vs. Florida Panthers (+104)

The Calgary Flames host the Florida Panthers Tuesday night in a rare meeting between the two clubs. Given the scenario the Panthers are in entering this one it’s the Flames who should come out of this one with a regulation win.

The Panthers looked primed to get their west coast trip started with a win last night in Edmonton before the Oilers clawed back, scoring with less than five seconds to go in regulation to tie it before capping the comeback just 22 seconds into overtime. It was certainly a deflating loss for a Panthers team that needs to start winning games in a tough Atlantic Division.

While the loss on the scoreboard stung, the Panthers are also dealing with a personnel loss as captain and all-world center Aleksander Barkov didn’t travel with the team out west and won’t suit up again tonight as a result. That’s a massive blow to be sure and one that cannot be taken lightly.

The Flames will also face netminder Sergei Bobrovsky after Spencer Knight took the loss in Edmonton. Bobrovsky’s struggles continue into this season as he owns an ugly 3.62 GAA and .888 Sv% across 11 starts, going just 4-5-1 in the process. After rebounding last season, the two-time Vezina Trophy winner is off to a tough start again this time around.

The Flames should be able to hop on a Panthers team facing a tough back-to-back tonight in Calgary.

Winnipeg Jets Moneyline vs. Colorado Avalanche (+118)

It’s a Central Division clash tonight in Winnipeg as the Jets host the Colorado Avalanche with the two teams sitting just two points apart in the division.

To the surprise of many, it’s the Jets with the slight advantage to this point through the quarter mark of the season, albeit with a game in hand. Nonetheless, I like their chances as home underdogs in this one as the Jets sit 7-2-0 at Canada Life Centre this season.

We have an excellent matchup between the pipes as well with both Alexandar Georgiev of the Avalanche and Connor Hellebuyck of the Jets posting outstanding figures so far this season but give me Hellebuyck at home. The American netminder owns a 2.43 GAA and .925 Sv% in 16 starts, but also a dominant 1.37 GAA and .952 Sv% across eight home outings. Sure, those numbers will regress moving forward but right now that’s good enough for me, especially considering Georgiev’s 1.97 GAA and .944 Sv% on the road should regress moving forward as well.

Keep in mind the Avs are a beat-up squad at the moment. Gabriel Landeskog, Valeri Nichushkin, Evan Rodrigues, Bowen Byram and Darren Helm are among the regulars out of the Avalanche lineup right now and their depth — especially up front — is under the microscope.

The Jets should be able to take advantage tonight as underdogs on home ice.

Vancouver Canucks Moneyline vs. Washington Capitals (-120)

The Vancouver Canucks got off a disastrous start to their season, but they’ve made up some ground and carry a three-game winning streak into tonight’s home matchup with the Washington Capitals.

In fact, it’s the Canucks that boast the slightly superior points percentage entering this contest. The Capitals have quietly been a major disappointment — thanks in part to a plethora of injuries — as they are just 9-11-3 on the season while their 2-7-2 road record is the second-worst mark in the Eastern Conference. Washington’s -12 goal differential is the third-worst mark in the east.

The Caps sport the NHL’s 27th-ranked offense now while they sit 22nd in expected goals for per 60 minutes of five-on-five hockey. Their defense has been roughly in the middle of the pack but scoring goals has been a significant issue.

The Canucks don’t have much to write home about on either side of the puck, but their early-season struggles are skewing their numbers. In fact, they’ve averaged a cool 4.33 goals per game in winning five of their last six as the offense has carried them of late.

Issues on the back end remain, however, with a low-scoring Capitals offense in town — one that sits 27th on the road as well — the Canucks should be able to prevent enough goals to secure a home-ice victory Tuesday night.
