WNBA Finals Aces vs. Sun Picks: Las Vegas Will Stay Hot to Complete the Sweep in Game 3 (September 15)

The WNBA Finals are just two games in, and the Las Vegas Aces are already one win away from a sweep — and a championship trophy. After beating the Sun by a wide margin in Game 2, the Aces will travel to Connecticut for Game 3 looking to finish the job. Below, check out a breakdown of these finals so far and see how that information can be used to bet on tonight’s game.

WNBA Pick: Sun vs. Aces Game 3

Following a close loss in the series opener, Connecticut lost in blowout fashion in Game 2. Las Vegas put on a show both offensively & defensively, often-times making the Sun look undeserving of this WNBA Finals appearance. The Aces’ dominant trio of A’ja Wilson, Kelsey Plum and Chelsea Gray all dropped 20-plus points in the matchup, combining for 67 points while shooting an impressive 62% from the field. Four of the five Aces starters posted a net rating of +13 or higher, and a couple of the Vegas bench players contributed some valuable minutes. All in all, this team dominated the paint against a tough, physical Sun team which is a bad sign for Connecticut moving forward.

Game 2 was a different story for the Sun as they simply could never find a way to close the gap. Connecticut lost the lead with three minutes left in the first quarter and they trailed for the remainder of the game. While Jonquel Jones and Alyssa Thomas had solid performances, the team struggled mainly due to DeWanna Bonner‘s second consecutive no-show. In the two WNBA Finals games thus far, Bonner has totaled just 5 points on 2-for-18 shooting. If her lack of production continues, the Sun have no shot at extending this series. Courtney Williams had a nice game in an attempt to remedy some of Bonner’s struggles, but it just wasn’t enough.

When betting on Game 2, the best team to put money on is Las Vegas. Take the Aces ML (+100) and be excited that the more dominant team in this series is being listed as an underdog. While the series is shifting to Connecticut, the Aces have looked like the better team throughout the playoffs and the finals. They’ve taken control of the perimeter and the paint, and they’ve matched the physicality of Connecticut. Expect Vegas’ star-players to win this road game, completing the sweep against a worn-down Sun squad.
