The first game of this series ended in dramatic fashion when Sun forward DeWanna Bonner came up short on a 3-pointer as time expired. Connecticut played hard all game but couldn’t manage to pull out the victory after a couple of late comeback attempts. Game 1 was extremely defensive and low scoring, and there’s that may not be the case for the majority of the series.
A’ja Wilson had another great postseason performance in the last game, as she recorded 24 points, 11 rebounds and 6 stocks. Her running mate, Chelsea Gray, played a nice game, contributing 21 points in the win. Kelsey Plum shot just 1-for-9 from the field, so expect her to play considerably better in the game tonight. On the Suns side, Alyssa Thomas and Jonquel Jones carried their squad for most of the series opener. The other Sun players didn’t produce as much as they needed to, as DeWanna Bonner had a miserable night. She ended up shooting 1-for-9 from the field. While it’s fair to assume Bonner and company will player better in Game 2, it’s also reasonable to expect this matchup to be just as defensive as Game 1.
In terms of betting tonight’s game, the best option is to take Las Vegas -4.5 and hope for an even better performance from the Aces than in Game 1. They won the series opener by 3 while scoring just 9 points in the second quarter, getting out-rebounded and losing the turnover battle. If anything, they should’ve won by even more, so tonight they should be able to put it all together and win a second straight game in these 2022 Finals.
