It is quite apt to describe the opening of the New York legalized sports betting yesterday in three words: “It’s about time.” It is extremely exciting that New Yorkers will finally be able to place wagers, and even though baseball season is far out of the mind of most bettors, pitchers and catchers report fairly soon. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the New York Yankees and their roster’s best bets for the upcoming season.

Best 2022 New York Yankees MLB Futures Bets
The Yankees as a squad leave a lot to be desired at this point in the offseason. Somehow their odds to win the World Series are third best at +1100 on Caesars Sportsbook. However, they only have three-fifths of their rotation finalized and missed out on Corey Seager to fill their shortstop hole. All in all, they still project to be a good offensive team, but the lack of pitching depth after Gerrit Cole is a real problem that has not been addressed. Currently the Yankees are counting on Nestor Cortes and Jameson Taillon to be healthy and contribute as fourth and fifth starters. It is quite apparent that their current best bets lie in their best players: Aaron Judge, Cole and a resurgent Luis Severino.
2022 MLB Pick: Aaron Judge to Win American League MVP
Judge had a great offensive season last year and seemed to have improved in every possible metric. He led the league in average, maximum exit velocity and hard-hit percentage. Judge was top 98% in all predictive statistics and lowered his chase rate to only 77%. This was really the only hole that pitchers could exploit, and if his plate discipline improves further, Judge could be looking at a massive year. The only reason to refrain from betting him as the American League home run king is his mediocre launch angle. If his launch angle ever improves, there is no doubt Judge could lead both leagues in home runs by a large margin due to his incredible natural power.
2022 MLB Pick: Gerrit Cole to Win American League Cy Young
Cole really came back down to earth at the end of last year after the ban on sticky substances affected his spin rate. However, after a full offseason, there is no doubt he is poised to return to the top of American League Cy Young award considerations. This is also a bet on lack of talent in AL pitching ranks. While, the National League boasts a crowded upper echelon of pitching talent, the AL is far behind, and Cole is a great bet simply based on talent and opportunity.
2022 Dark Horse MLB Pick: Luis Severino to Win American League Cy Young
Luis Severino was absolutely dominant in his return from injury last year. However, the Yankees chose to keep him in the bullpen, and he was able to show off his talent and array of pitches in baffling hitters down the stretch of the regular season and in the playoffs. Severino should be returning to the rotation to start 2022, and if he can stay healthy, he will be a great dark horse candidate to take down the AL Cy Young award.
