Marlon Vera enters the five round main event as the betting favorite (-175) over Cory Sandhagen (+145). The 5’8″ Ecuadorian Bantamweight has won four fights in a row and ten fights out of his last twelve matches dating back to August of 2018.  Vera has participated in two straight five round fights, winning his last by TKO in the fourth over Dominick Cruz. Prior to that fight he won a five-round decision over Rob Font, scored a knockout over Frankie Edgar and a decision win over Davey Grant.

Vera last lost in December of 2020 by unanimous decision to Jose Aldo.

Cory Sandhagen has fought in three straight five round fights but has a spottier record than Vera. He scored a 4th round doctor’s stoppage in his last match against Song Yadong. However, that was proceeded by two straight losses. The first was a loss by unanimous decision in a title fight against Peter Yan. Prior to that Sandhagen lost by split decision to TJ Dillashaw. Prior to that he knocked out Frankie Edgar, a common opponent with Vera, in 28 seconds.

UFC prop bets have yet to be released, but bettors can expect to have these available soon.

The remainder of the card features a mix of UFC veterans and newcomers. It is expected to be an exciting card with no fighter over a -275 moneyline favorite.

The main event was originally scheduled for February but was moved to March, as well as to the new venue in San Antonio.

The matches will give Texas UFC fans an up close look at some of the biggest stars in the promotion. That’s especially the case for the main event with both fighters vying for a title shot in the bantamweight division.
