Best NASCAR Xfinity Series Bets for the 2023 Call 811.Com Before You Dig 250 at Martinsville

The Xfinity Series got a week off for Bristol Dirt, but it’s back in action at Martinsville Speedway this weekend. Kaz Grala cashed a 25-1 ticket at Richmond, and we nearly had a massive payday — our outright, John Hunter Nemechek, finished second, and Sheldon Creed, who we had scoring a top-5, finished sixth. The Call 811.Com Before You Dig 250 will get underway on Saturday, April 14 at 5 p.m. ET. Sheldon Creed stands out as a sharp NASCAR Xfinity Series bet for Martinsville.

When Will Sheldon Creed Find Victory Lane?

I rarely limit my action on a given race to just one driver, but after looking through the markets, I’m willing to commit plenty of my bankroll to Sheldon Creed by himself. The uber-talented Richard Childress Racing driver has come oh-so-close on short, flat ovals since joining the Xfinity Series. At odds of 20-1 to win at Caesars, he is a high-value bet for a seriously solid return.

Creed has run well here in the past. He started fifth and led six laps before getting stuck two laps down and finishing in 30th last year’s spring race. He then started second and finished in that position in the fall. He didn’t lead a lap in that event, but he still scored the eighth-best driver rating. Creed nearly won the 2020 Truck Series Martinsville race after starting from the pole and leading 65 laps.

More importantly, Creed succeeds at comparator venues. New Hampshire, another short, flat oval with long straightaways and narrow corners, has been good to him. He finished fifth in the Granite State after leading 10 laps last season. Creed has also performed well at other short, flat ovals to start this season. He finished third at Phoenix and sixth at Richmond. This streak extends back to late last season, as Creed finished sixth at Phoenix in the finale and second at Martinsville in the penultimate race.

Creed has the aggressive temperate needed to win at short tracks like Martinsville, especially in equipment that lags behind the top-tier programs like JR Motorsports and Joe Gibbs Racing. Creed is unlikely to control Saturday’s event, but he is likelier to score a win — and to score a top-5 finish — than the oddsmakers at Caesars Sportsbook would have you believe.
