On Wednesday, Manchester City played the role of heavy favorites against Borussia Dormund. And while they fell behind 1-0 early, it was a jaw dropping goal off an entry pass by summer transfer Erling Haaland in the 83rd minute that proved to be the dagger for Dortmund.

After the Queen’s passing, all English teams had halted play for about a week, and perhaps the rustiness showed during the early going of Manchester City’s fixture against Dortmund.
But after boss Pep Guardiola turned to John Stones in the second half with no other options at his disposal, he was rewarded with an equalizer prior to Haaland putting Manchester City up for good later in the game.
Guardiola had won the Champions League with Barcelona in 2009 and then again in 2011, but after last season’s collapse the boss is still trying to get the job done with all of the talent at Manchester City.
Manchester City were Premier League Champions last season.
“When people say (to compare) the Premier League or Champions League, both are awesome. They are top,” Guardiola said in May to Sports Illustrated.
“The Champions League is so nice, attractive and emotional. The Champions League is like when Sergio Aguero scores the 93:20 goal (against Queens Park Rangers to win the Premier League on the final day of the 2011/12 league campaign).
