The last time we saw McGregor in the ring, he lost his second-straight fight to Dustin Poirier due to a doctor’s stoppage. McGregor’s leg broke during the first round of his third fight against Poirier, which went down at UFC 264. Poirier had lost the first fight between the two men before besting McGregor in back-to-back contests.

McGregor’s fight against Chandler has been looming large over the UFC world for years at this point. The two men were booked as the coaches on the last season of The Ultimate Fighter but hadn’t committed to a date until Saturday.

June’s fight will mark Chandler’s first appearance in the Octagon. since November 2022. He suffered a loss to Poirier by submission at UFC 281, putting him at 1-3 over his last three fights with his lone win coming against Tony Ferguson. Both he and McGregor are in desperate need of victories to keep their storied MMA careers alive.
