UFC Vegas 60 Betting Odds & Predictions: Robertson & Algeo Top Value Bets on Fight Night Card (September 17)

The UFC will be heading back to the Apex after being down the street at T-Mobile Arena for UFC 279. The main event this week is an important bantamweight contender fight between Corey Sandhagen and Yadong Song. Let’s dive into the MMA betting odds and get into a few of the best UFC Vegas 60 predictions for the Sandhagen vs. Song fight card on Saturday, Sept. 17.

UFC Vegas 60 Predictions: Cory Sandhagen vs. Yadong Song Picks

Gillian Robertson vs. Mariya Agapova Predictions

In a flyweight matchup, Mariya Agapova might be fighting to remain on the UFC roster when she takes on submission grappler Gillian Robertson. Agapova was signed not long after losing to Tracey Cortez on the Contender Series and has gone 2-2 in the UFC, with all of her fights ending inside the distance. Agapova is a bit of a polarizing figure because against Shana Dobson she closed as high as a -1667 favorite and lost by second-round submission.

Agapova’s gas tank seems to be her biggest issue. She is very dangerous on the feet with lots of power and likes to occasionally mix in the wrestling landing 0.69 takedowns per 15 minutes. If Agapova does not get opponents out of there early, she seems to fade, especially if her opponent likes to wrestle. In her two wins, Agapova faced zero takedown attempts, and in her two losses she faced seven attempts and her opponents landed four. Off her back seems to be a big issue, and it does not seem she is technically sound enough to properly work her way back to her feet. She tries to explode back to her feet, which uses a ton of energy, and it usually does not work.

Robertson’s biggest strength is submission grappling. Her wrestling is not great; however, she basically sells out to get the fight to the mat, and if she can get Agapova to the mat, there is a good chance she will finish the fight there. Robertson has seven wins in the UFC, and five of them have come by submission. Robertson lands 2.36 takedowns per 15 minutes but only lands them at a 40% clip, which means she will keep on shooting for takedowns if she does not get them.

While there might be some tricky moments on the feet for her with Agapova, she will eventually hunt for a submission. Getting Robertson by submission at plus money when it is her most viable path to victory is a win for bettors.

Bill Algeo vs. Andre Fili Predictions

In what should be an action-packed featherweight bout, Bill Algeo will take on Andre Fili. It is a bit surprising to see Fili the favorite in this fight, as he is winless in his last three fights. The best way to describe Fili without being disrespectful is that he is good everywhere but not great anywhere. He has an overall good MMA game: He can strike, he can wrestle, he has submissions — the problem is he tends to get into these close fights and does not have the defining moments where he separates himself and the numbers prove it.

He lands 3.82 significant strikes per minute but absorbs 3.92. He lands 2.49 takedowns per 15 minutes but only lands them at a 50% clip while defending them at a 68% clip. There is nothing there that stands out.

On the other hand, Algeo fights at a tremendously high pace. In his UFC debut, he was a +240 underdog to Ricardo Lamas, as he took the fight on short notice. Algeo put on an incredible pace on Lamas, landing 81 significant strikes in the first 10 minutes, but he ultimately got tired and Lamas took over in the third. Since then, he has gone 3-1 in his previous four fights, all with full training camps, and his cardio was much improved. In what should be at worst a pick-’em fight, bettors can still get Algeo at plus money, value that might not be there because the closing line may end up flipping.
