Head coach J.B. Bickerstaff doesn’t always sandbag Garland on the front end of back-to-backs, but he has done so at least twice this season. Garland played only 28 minutes on the front end of a back-to-back in November and only 33 in one in January. He proceeded to play 37.5 minutes in the subsequent two games while averaging 28.5 points and 2.5 3-pointers across those contests. Garland’s usage tonight should fit right into that pattern.

The Chicago Bulls have defended opposing point guards well this season, but they have struggled to stop anyone from the perimeter. The Bulls have allowed the sixth-most 3-pointers per game (13) and the third-most from above the break (9.7). Getting Alex Caruso back has helped their defense somewhat, but he couldn’t stop Spencer Dinwiddie from hitting two 3’s and scoring 25 points or Ja Morant from hitting four 3’s and scoring 34.
