Best Mavericks-Kings Player Prop: Will Harrison Barnes Get a Steal? (February 10)

The Dallas Mavericks acquired Kyrie Irving and the trade deadline and are still sorting things out with him. With Luka Doncic officially out again, the Mavericks will have to hope Irving has built up enough chemistry with his teammates to lead the way. Bettors searching for sharp plays for Friday’s Mavericks-Kings game should tail this NBA player prop at DraftKings — the book has left too much value on the Harrison Barnes player prop markets. Best Mavericks-Kings NBA Player Prop | Harrison Barnes

Harrison Barnes Prop O/U 0.5 Steals

The Dallas Mavericks infamously shipped Harrison Barnes off to the Sacramento Kings in the middle of a game in 2019. Since then, Barnes has averaged 0.8 steals per game against his former team, including a season-best 3-steal performance early in 2021. Although Luka Doncic is an effective and efficient ball handler, the Mavericks won’t have him tonight, which will create plenty of chances for Barnes to get a steal.

With Kyrie Irving still learning the ropes for Dallas, it’s safe to expect a few slip-ups here and there. The Mavericks may have beaten the Clippers in Irving’s debut, but Irving turned the ball over five times. The Clippers racked up a whopping 10 steals, five of which came off Irving. Each of those steals went to a wing — Norman Powell (2), Marcus Morris Sr. (2) and Kawhi Leonard (1).

Harrison Barnes plays a big wing role for the Kings and should have plenty of chances to nab a steal. He is averaging 0.8 steals per game this year and 0.9 at home. Barnes has racked up at least one steal in his last five games against Irving, a streak that dates back to Irving’s time in Boston. He has also recorded at least one steal in 30 of his 54 appearances this year, good for a raw hit rate of 55.6%.

It’s unclear why this NBA player prop sits in the plus money tonight. Harrison Barnes has played too consistently to warrant DraftKings Sportsbook listing the over at +100. This prop is priced as if the Mavericks hadn’t just undergone major changes to their roster. Readers yet to register at DraftKings can score $200 in bonus bets with a $5 wager — but only until Feb. 12!
