Whether or not Doc Rivers turns things around for an already-30-win team is inconsequential to tonight, much like the Trail Blazers taking the Oklahoma City Thunder down to the wire. Best NBA Side Bet: Hornets-Pistons
Yes, you read the correct. There’s a sense of beauty with a game like this, featuring two bottom-feeding, awful basketball teams. One of the more difficult things to bet around in the NBA is a blowout, especially an early one. While this game should be competitive, there’s a clear-cut better team. The likelihood of a tight game is much stronger in this game than any other on the slate, with the lone exception being Detroit give up early. That’s fine, we are playing the Hornets on the moneyline following a Tuesday trade of Terry Rozier.
The Hornets received Kyle Lowry in return and won’t play him due to trade requests. LaMelo Ball is taking full advantage of this absence but not just from a scoring standpoint. The Pistons love to play fast but hate to defend; it’s a recipe for disaster against another bad team with star power like Ball. Charlotte is the better team, marginally, but this is also one of the few spreads below 6 points.
With teams falling faster from the middle of the pack, the haves and have-nots are best reflected with larger spreads. This game is billed as a close one despite the road team having the advantage. Much like betting against injury, we ride the Hornets after a big trade (for them).

The Grizzlies have another tough one on the road as they tip in Miami looking to split a four-game road trip. The Heat have other plans, hoping to use tonight’s game as a tune-up before hosting Boston on TNT tomorrow night. Don’t expect any letdown from the Miami Heat, at least not on defense. They are looking to stop a three-game skid, including a recent loss in Orlando. Newly acquired Rozier is still a game-time decision, but the Heat are relatively healthy to clamp down on Memphis.
The Grizz are 1-4 to the under in their last five games against Miami. The Heat also come in 1-4 to the under in their last five games before taking on Boston. Most of those games against Memphis were with Ja Morant, while Miami has shown it can defend against anyone before a marquee matchup against the Celtics. Trends don’t always tell the whole story, but both teams need a win and neither is doing that in a track meet.
