De’Andre Hunter Should Cook Tonight in Miami (March 6)

The Atlanta Hawks suffered an embarrassing loss to the Miami Heat on Saturday. Trae Young, their star point guard, scored a season-low eight points and turned the ball over five times. Bettors looking for a high-value NBA player prop for tonight’s Hawks-Heat game should tail the prediction below —  DraftKings has left a bit too much value on the De’Andre Hunter player prop markets. Make sure to check out OddsShopper’s tools for other sharp plays.

Best Hawks-Heat NBA Player Prop | De’Andre Hunter

De’Andre Hunter O/U 14.5 Points

Although superstars have struggled against the Miami Heat, role players have done quite well. The Heat can lock down the paint and the top of the key but have struggled to stop opposing wings all season, especially when they don’t fit in at the top of a team’s pecking order. This trend has held in Miami’s three prior meetings with the Hawks this season — wing De’Andre Hunter is averaging 16.7 points per game against them thus far.

Hunter isn’t the highest-usage player, but he has a solid role in Atlanta’s offense. He is averaging 15.6 points per game this year and 16.4 since the start of 2023. Hunter just shot 6-for-10 from the field against Miami on Saturday and sunk all four of his free throws as the Heat opted to use Tyler Herro as his primary defender. Hunter scored six points in the four minutes Herro covered him alone.

Miami hasn’t gotten burned by Hunter’s perimeter shooting yet this year, but he could cook them tonight. The Heat have allowed an NBA-high 4.6 corner 3’s per game this year on 40.7% shooting. Hunter leads the Hawks in corner 3’s attempted per game (1.9) and sinks 39.2% of his attempts. Although he is shooting only 4-for-12 (33.3%) against Miami this year, he should have a bigger performance at some point.

The Hawks have to play this one on the road, but Hunter performs better away from Atlanta. He averages 0.7 more points and 0.22 more 3-pointers per game in away games. With the books leaving the total for this prop (14.5) below his season-low against Miami and stacking the juice on the under, bettors should hop on the over at +100 via DraftKings Sportsbook. Readers yet to register at DraftKings can score $150 in bonus bets with a winning $5 moneyline wager!
