Philadelphia 76ers guard James Harden is drawing some heavy betting interest ahead of Wednesday night’s 76ers-Celtics Game 2. After putting the team on his back with Joel Embiid out in the series opener, bettors are no longer sleeping on Harden. The 76ers came into Game 1 as the heavy underdog in Game 1, but Harden stole the show and exceeded expectations to lead Philadelphia to a 119-115 win. Harden poured in a game-high 45, with six rebounds and one assist in a dominant performance.
Harden was seen motioning for teammates to get off the floor and stop celebrating after the game, telling the group it was just one game.
“I told the guys, ‘Don’t get too happy about it,’ ” Harden said, per the Boston Globe. “That’s the mindset we have to have as a unit. Whether Jo comes back or not, we’ll be ready to go.”
Per BetMGM data analyst John Ewing, 99% of bets are on Harden to get the over on the scoring prop, and that wager rates as the third-most bet prop in the game. But Harden will not have to shoulder most of the load anymore. The 76ers reported just ahead of Game 2 that Embiid will return to the floor “barring a setback”.
The 76ers-Celtics betting report show Harden player props are still immensely popular, even with Embiid likely to take away some scoring opportunities. But Philadelphia will undoubtedly need a strong performance from both of its star players in order to pull off another upset.
