Warriors vs Suns Odds Shift Following Stephen Curry Injury News

Per DraftKings, the Warriors are a 12-point favorite over the Suns. Golden State opened as a 10-point favorite. Their shift makes sense, as the Suns are dealing with a plethora of injuries on their side. Devin Booker will remain out for at least a few more weeks due to a groin injury. Chris Paul and Deandre Ayton have already been ruled out as well.

Tuesday night marks the end of Curry’s 11-game absence for a partially torn shoulder. Curry was off to another MVP-caliber start to the season before the injury, with averages of 30 points, 6.8 assists and 6.6 rebounds per game. He had shot 50% from the floor and 43.4% from 3-point range.

But even with Stephen Curry stuffing the stat sheet, the Warriors started the year an underwhelming 14-15. Golden State now sits at a more comfortable 20-20 after going 6-5 in Curry’s absence, good for sixth place in the Western Conference.

With Curry out of the lineup, Klay Thompson has found his stride for Golden State. Thompson has averaged 36 points in his last four games, including a 54-point performance in Golden State’s double-overtime win over the Atlanta Hawks on Jan. 2.

“It was just insane what he had to endure,” Kerr said of Thompson’s hot streak during an appearance on 95.7 The Game. “And it’s just wonderful to see him enjoying himself. He looks more relaxed now than he did earlier in the season.”

“I think he’s found a good perspective where he’s appreciating his opportunity to play and to just enjoy being part of the team and enjoy the fact that there’s a small window in your life as a professional athlete relative to your life, your lifespan. I mean, 10-15 years, whatever it is. This is a time that Klay absolutely should be enjoying, and I’m really happy to see him doing so now.”

Even though the Warriors will have both Splash Brothers back in action against the Suns, the Warriors are an NBA-worst 3-16 away from home this season. But with Stephen Curry back in the lineup, the Warriors will now look to turn their mediocre season around in pursuit of their goal to win back-to-back NBA championships.
