DeAndre Hopkins Trade Rumors: Cardinals Looking to Deal Star Receiver?

Is Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins on the trading block? After the Cardinals parted with both general manager Steve Keim and head coach Kliff Kingsbury this week, NFL insider Jordan Shulz reported the team will also look to move Hopkins in the offseason.

DeAndre Hopkins Trade Coming Soon?

According to the report, Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill plans to pitch the idea of a DeAndre Hopkins trade to general manager candidates in interviews beginning this week. Hopkins has two years and $34.36 million remaining on his contract with the Cardinals but is believed to be seeking a new deal this offseason.

If Hopkins were to hit the block, there would certainly be a market for his services. After serving a six-game suspension to start the 2022 season, the 30-year-old hauled in 64 receptions for 717 yards and three touchdowns in nine games played. There is plenty of buzz about the New England Patriots potentially making a run at Hopkins following a pregame encounter with Bill Belichick, which went viral when captured on HBO’s “Hard Knocks.”

“I’m glad we only have to play you every four years, man,” Belichick said after seeking out Hopkins on the field prior to their Week 14 matchup. “… What a career you’re having. You missed half the season, still going to lead the league in receiving.”

“I love you, man,” Hopkins replied.

“You too,” Belichick said. “You too.”

While the Cardinals are believed to be shopping Hopkins, the plan remains to keep quarterback Kyler Murray for the future, with Bidwill saying he’ll look to the young signal-caller for input in the upcoming head coach search.

As the Cardinals enter a transition period, expect the DeAndre Hopkins trade rumors to continue throughout the offseason. The three-time All-Pro has proven to be a dominant presence but has struggled to stay on the field of late. Hopkins missed the final two games of the season with a knee injury and has played in just 19 of 34 games over the past two seasons.
