This Anthony Davis NBA Player Prop Keeps Hitting Without LeBron James (March 10)

Some wrote the Los Angeles Lakers off once LeBron James went down. But Anthony Davis has stepped up to keep the Lakers in the hunt, and the Lakers would have a play-in bid if the season ended today. Both Davis and point guard D’Angelo Russell are probable tonight, but this NBA player prop has just kept hitting when LeBron James sits. Those looking for a Raptors-Lakers player prop should tail the prediction below — DraftKings has left too much value on the Anthony Davis player prop markets. Anthony Davis O/U 2.5 Turnovers

When James sits, Anthony Davis becomes an even more essential part of the Lakers’ offense. Although getting D’Angelo Russell will take some of the pressure off him, it won’t do enough to prevent bettors from cashing out on this NBA player prop tonight. Davis has played in 13 games without LeBron James this season and is averaging a monster 3.7 turnovers per game. He is also averaging 3 turnovers per game without James but with Russell.

The Toronto Raptors make for the perfect matchup to exploit this NBA player prop. The Raptors struggle to shoot the ball but try to compensate for that by forcing turnovers. Toronto ranks second in turnovers forced per game (16.6). Opposing bigs have accounted for lots of that damage — the Raptors have forced the sixth-most turnovers from centers per game (3) and the third-most from power forwards (2.9).

Adding center Jakob Poeltl before the trade deadline has helped the Raptors harass opposing bigs even more effectively. Through the last seven games, all of which Poeltl has played for the Raptors, Toronto has forced nearly four turnovers per game from centers. Denver’s Nikola Jokic coughed it up four times against them on Monday. Kristaps Porzingis averaged 3.5 turnovers per game across their two-game series last week.

Davis will have a bit of a reprieve with Russell probable, but he’ll still cough the ball up plenty tonight. Davis hasn’t played the Raptors since the 2020-21 season, but he has lined up against Poeltl twice this season, and he turned the ball over three times in each meeting. Bettors can buy the over at -145 via DraftKings Sportsbook, but its implied odds (59.2%) aren’t high enough. Toronto’s defense leans on forcing turnovers, and Davis is their most logical victim.
