March Madness Best Bets & Predictions | CBI & NIT

Southern Utah vs. Eastern Kentucky

Facing off the CBI semi-final, Southern Utah takes on Eastern Kentucky in a game with a 155.5 total. With the over taking money, this looks like a side to hit as soon as possible. First and foremost, this game projects to be played at an insane pace. The NCAA average for possessions per game is 70.0; Southern Utah averages 75.2 possessions per game and Eastern Kentucky 72.7. Overall, these teams rank 14th and 49th in pace.

Southern Utah is 110th in offensive efficiency and has an edge from 3. Southern Utah is 141st in 3-point percentage, which should exploit Eastern Kentucky’s defense that is outside the top 15o in defending the three. On the other side, Eastern Kentucky has struggled to score most of the season, with the 208th-ranked offense. However, Southern Utah is potentially worse on defense, ranking 189th in interior defense and 304th in perimeter defense.

Wisconsin vs. Oregon

In the quarterfinals of the NIT, Wisconsin takes on Oregon as a 4.5-point underdog. This line comes as a bit of a surprise, considering the Oregon injury situation. The Ducks have been without Will Richardson, Jermaine Couisnard and N’Faly Dante to this point in the NIT. Perhaps this explains why the Badgers have taken money to open the day.

Injuries aside, the Badgers still have some potential matchup exploitations here. The Ducks rank 155th in 3-point defense, where the Badgers have excelled all year behind Chucky Hepburn and Connor Essegian. On the inside, the Badgers are 305th in 2-point percentage and clashes against the Ducks’ second-ranked interior defense. However, Oregon just lost its best interior player in Dante. The Badgers also struggled on the inside due to Tyler Wahl being injured through portions of 2022. With Wahl back healthy and Steven Crowl rapidly improving on the inside, this may not be quite the advantage for Oregon after all.

Best March Madness Bet: Wisconsin -4.5 (-105) at BetMGM
