The teams both proved dangerous potential, and the Michigan State-Kansas State betting odds show we could be in for another tight March Madness game.

Michigan State-Kansas State Sweet 16 Betting Odds: Who Has the Edge

Per DraftKings Sportsbook, Kansas State opens as a one-point favorite, -120 on the moneyline. Michigan State sits at +100 on the books. The over/under is set at 136.5.

Kansas State punched its ticket to the Sweet Sixteen in a back-and-forth matchup against the Kentucky Wildcats on Sunday. With the win, head coach Jerom Tang added another chapter to his storybook first season on the job. Undersized point guard Markquis Nowell played the role of hero for Kansas State against Kentucky, pouring in clutch shots and assists during a 27-point, nine-assist performance.

“Dudes,” Tang said after the game, per AP. “We got dudes. That’s what it takes. I mean, people get all caught up in the coaching and all of that stuff. It’s dudes.”

The Spartans came into Sunday as a slight underdog against the Marquette Eagles. They got off to a hot start, building a double-digit lead. Marquette would end up coming back, briefly taking the lead in the second half before Michigan State pulled away late for a 69-60 win.

The Michigan State-Kansas State matchup is a tale of two different storylines for head coaches Tom Izzo and Jerome Tang, While this marks Tang’s first deep run in the NCAA Tournament, Izzo is preparing for his 15th Sweet 16. He led the Spartans to a National Championship in the 2015 season. This time, Izzo is playing the role of underdog with the No. 7 seed Spartans.

“I’ve been to the Final Four as a 1-seed, and I’ve been beaten in the first weekend [as a 2-seed],” Izzo said to Fox Sports. “I really don’t think the seeding is as important right now. It’s how you’re playing and what your team is like.”

The early Michigan State-Kansas State Sweet 16 odds show Izzo and the Spartans will still be a slight underdog. But it would hardly come as a surprise if they prevail and make the Elite Eight.
