NIT Odds: Tight Defensive Battle Expected in North Texas-Wisconsin Matchup

The NIT final four descends on Las Vegas this week. It’s the first time that the finals have been played in Las Vegas, and the first time that the North Texas Eagles have made it this far in any postseason basketball tournament. The Eagles have made the NIT two years in a row and are set to take on the Wisconsin Badgers in this huge matchup for the school. Wisconsin had hopes to make the NCAA tournament but their season never took off. The North Texas-Wisconsin odds are out, as well as the full NIT odds, as bettors prepare for Tuesday night’s action.

Bettors should keep up with OddsShopper’s expert analysis and betting models for the NIT matchups and this weekend’s NCAA Tournament Final Four

Despite Wisconsin’s consistent presence in the postseason and history of success in the Big Ten, they enter Tuesday’s game as 1.5 point underdogs to North Texas at DraftKings. That’s nearly a coin flip with the Badgers at +105 on the moneyline compared to North Texas at -125. The over/under is at 115.5 points.

That low total can be attributed to North Texas’ defense and pace. The Eagles have not allowed more than 60-points in any of their three games leading up to the final four. They beat Alcorn State 69-53 in Round One, Sam Houston State 75-55 in Round Two and defeated Oklahoma State 65-59 to reach this point.

Wisconsin has posted strong overall defense as well. Their opponents have averaged just over 63 points per game over the NIT’s first three rounds. The Badgers last win was a 61-58 slugfest over the Oregon Ducks.

That experience in close matchups throughout the NIT might come in to play for the Badgers, as could their hard fought battles in Big Ten conference play. Head Coach Greg Gard was pleased with the way his team continued to fight versus Oregon. BadgerExtra tweeted a comment from Gard:

With time winding down in the season, the North Texas-Wisconsin game is one of the last times to find college basketball odds value this year.
