Ben Rasa’s College Basketball Bet of the Day: VCU vs. Saint Louis (February 3)

There are only a few days left before the Super Bowl, and OddsShopper is bringing you free betting breakdowns that are both entertaining and hopefully profitable. We have been on a great run recently, but we need to rally after yesterday’s miss with Northwestern — credit to Michigan for handling them despite not having a great year. Let’s build some momentum heading into a big Saturday slate.

Sharp College Basketball Bet: VCU-Saint Louis

This is a big game in the Atlantic 10, with VCU traveling to St. Louis to take on the Billikens. These are two of the best teams in the conference, and don’t be surprised if one of them is dancing in March. Saint Louis is a 2.5-point home favorite, with the game total sitting around 141.5 points.

The play here is laying the points with Saint Louis at home. The Billikens are coming off two straight road games and a bad loss at Fordham, which broke a six-game win streak. This squad has four players in double figures, led by a pair of guards, which is key against VCU’s pressure defense. On the year, Saint Louis is 15-7 and 7-2 in conference.

On the other side, VCU is 17-6 and 8-2 in conference, mostly because of a havoc defense. The Rams force nearly 18 turnovers per game and are inside the top 40 in both blocks and steals. They rely on their defense because they aren’t a prolific scoring team. If Saint Louis can limit the turnovers, that will go a long way to securing this win. With the game in the Billikens’ gym and an experienced, guard-heavy offense, they should grab a quality win tonight and cover the 2.5.

Best College Basketball Bet Today: Saint Louis -2.5 (DraftKings)
