Updated Women’s NCAA Tournament Odds: Can Miami Keep Upset Streak Going?

The Miami Hurricanes men’s and women’s college basketball programs have pulled together impressive runs in their March Madness tournaments. The Miami women took down the No. 1 Indiana Hoosiers last weekend despite coming into the game as a double-digit underdog. The team added another chapter to their unlikely run by defeating the Villanova Wildcats to reach the Elite 8 on Friday. The latest Women’s NCAA Tournament odds show them cruising up the board.

Women’s NCAA Tournament Odds: Miami Keeps Dream Run Going

Per FanDuel Sportsbook, Miami (+3500) is still a heavy underdog to win the championship after coming into the tournament as a nine-seed. South Carolina (-230) is the heavy favorite to be the last team standing.

Miami’s upset win over Indiana had the sports world buzzing, with the back-and-forth action providing fans with plenty of entertainment. Indiana freshman Yarden Garzon hit a game-tying 3-pointer to tie the game at 68 with less than eight seconds to play, but Miami star Destiny Harden was able to quiet the crowd at Assembly Hall by hitting a game-winning jumper with three seconds remaining. The game took place just a day after the Miami men’s team beat the Hoosiers in the Round of 32.

Miami was able to defeat Villanova in a much easier fashion Friday, winning 70-65 behind a career-high 26 points from Jasmyne Roberts.

Longtime head coach Kate Meier pointed to faith and confidence when describing how her team has been able to defy the odds to pull off the tournament run.

“We talk about faith a lot,” Meier said, per NBC Miami. “Not religiously. I’m talking about faith, which is just confidence with a lot of patience, and we needed it. Your confidence can kind of come and go, but faith has some patience to it.”

The updated women’s NCAA tournament odds show this Miami team will still be a heavy underdog as they enter the Elite 8. But they seem pretty comfortable playing that role thus far.
