Brian Robinson Fantasy Football News: Commanders Running Back Already Back at Practice After Gunshot Wounds

Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson is already on the comeback trail after being shot in the knee area during a burglary attempt in the offseason.

On Wednesday, reporters spotted Robinson out at Commanders practice participating in some light drills with a knee brace on, while also doing some work with the stationary bike.

He is eligible to come off the injured reserve list for the Commanders’ Week 5 game against the Tennessee Titans.

For now, the Commanders are using the versatile Antonio Gibson as their lead back, and he put up a monster performance in their Week 1 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. He had 14 carries for 58 yards and added seven receptions for 72 yards, leading the team in both receiving and rushing yards.

As to where Robinson slots in when he returns, the Commanders would likely use him more in the running game, allowing Gibson to find mismatches as a receiver.

Prior to the season, Commanders head coach Ron Rivera indicated that Robinson would be the team’s starting running back when announcing that Gibson would return kicks.

“I think we still need to see some more stuff, but I think he is (our top kick returner),” Rivera said before the season. “I do. I think he’s done a nice job. When you watch it on tape, you see him circling the ball, getting under it, making a good catch. It’s something he did well in college, and we’re pretty excited having him do it.”

Regardless of how the Commanders decide to utilize Gibson, it would appear that Robinson will get the bulk of the carries and goal line looks come time for his return, meaning he should have some value in fantasy football leagues.
