Cam Akers Fantasy Football News: Los Angeles Rams Running Back Expected to Be More Involved in Week 2

Perhaps fantasy football managers should hold off a bit before dropping Los Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers from your team.

Sure, his Week 1 performance against the Buffalo Bills was beyond worrisome for anyone who drafted Akers. He gave way to Darrell Henderson as the clear first option in LA, with Akers running the ball just three times for ZERO yards in the 31-10 loss.

But still, Akers is expected to be an integral part of the offense in Los Angeles. And coach Sean McVay put the onus on himself to find ways to get Akers involved for their Week 2 game against the Falcons.

After being called out for his ‘urgency’, Akers said he had a positive talk with McVay prior to Week 2.

“Whatever coach says, I’m going to take it and I’m going to learn from it. … Whether I think it’s right or not, maybe I’m not always right,” he said.

On our Stokastic NFL Sit ’em Start ’em Fantasy Football Rankings, we have Akers all the way down at No. 47 on our list of running backs, with Henderson checking in at Henderson checking in at No. 14.

Akers is still working back to peak form after tearing his achilles in training camp in 2021. And while he feels fully healthy, perhaps he’s still tentative based on the usage and comments from McVay. Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Akers is also expected to be used much more in the coming weeks.

As the year goes on, we’d expect Akers to get some more looks mixed in with Henderson in the Rams backfield. But he’s better off on your bench for the time being.
