Chiefs vs. Broncos Prediction & Odds: Broncos Manage to Bump Chiefs From Prime Time

In a game that was originally supposed to be a Sunday Night Football showdown, the Kansas City Chiefs will travel to face the Denver Broncos in an AFC West matchup.  That’s how bad the Broncos (3-9) have been this year, as they knocked Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense off prime time. Kansas City (9-3) will look to get back in the win column.

Kickoff is slated for 4:05 p.m. ET. Make sure to check out our OddsShopper tool before betting on any Week 14 games ahead of Sunday’s action.

How Will Kansas City Respond?

The Chiefs are coming off a 27-24 loss to the Bengals, which bumped them from the No. 1 seed and a bye in the AFC playoffs. It snapped a 26-game win streak for Kansas City in November and December games as well.

However, if history is any indication, the Chiefs will be just fine. They have won 13 consecutive games against the Broncos. A win on Sunday would match the New England PatriotsNew York Jets for longest active winning streak from one opponent over another. Mahomes is 24-3 against AFC West foes in his career as well.

All of this helps explain why the Chiefs are nearly double-digit favorites, but betting on them is a whole different story. Kansas City is just 3-8-1 against the spread this season and has yet to cover a number since its 44-23 win over San Francisco on Oct. 23.

Can Denver’s Under Trend Continue?

Speaking of trends, the Broncos have been the gift that keeps on giving for under bettors. Denver is now 1-11 to the over this season, with its lone over being a 32-23 road loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on Oct. 2 when the total was 45.

Per Joe Osborne, the Broncos have had an average combined score of 30.8 in games that went under the point total. Last week’s 10-9 loss to the Baltimore Ravens was proof of how the Broncos can make any team play an ugly contest with them.

In Russell Wilson’s first year under center, Denver ranks dead last in the league in scoring, with an average of 13.8 points per game. The Broncos have only scored more than 16 points twice this season and once since that Week 4 loss to the Raiders.

Final Chiefs-Broncos Prediction and Pick

The Chiefs have a high-octane offense and the best quarterback in the NFL; nobody is denying that. But the Chiefs also have a tendency to let inferior teams hang around sometimes, as evidenced by their record against the spread. The Broncos could make this game uglier than expected.

Most of all, an under bet is a bet against the Broncos offense, and Denver will likely need to score 17 points to threaten this total. DraftKings is the best place to play the under, as it is offering -105 juice on a total of 44.
