Devin Singletary vs. James Cook: Who Has More Fantasy Football, DFS Value in MNF?

Will the Buffalo Bills feature more of Devin Singletary or James Cook for their matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals on MNF? That’s the question many fantasy players are asking themselves ahead of the final game of the NFL Week 17 slate. Before the highly-anticipated Bills-Bengals primetime showdown, let’s take a look at the Devin SingletaryJames Cook fantasy football & DFS rankings to see which one provides more value.

Devin SingletaryJames Cook Fantasy Football & DFS Ranking

Per Stokastic’s weekly fantasy football running back rankings, Devin Singletary ranks slightly ahead of James Cook. In our free player compare tool, Singletary projects to have 9.13 fantasy points, with Cook at 8.89.

Using Stokastic’s expert DFS projections, Cook ($5,600 on DraftKings) actually ranks as a slightly better value play than Singletary ($7,000).

Coming into the season, Singletary was the surefire No. 1 running back on Buffalo’s depth chart. But Cook, a rookie out of  Georgia, has been coming on strong as of late. In the Week 16 win over the Chicago Bears, Cook pulled off the best performance of his young NFL career. Playing in 41% of the team’s offensive snaps, Cook ran 11 times for 99 yards and a touchdown. Singletary added 106 yards and a touchdown with the Bills opting to keep the ball on the ground.

“I know James had a long one there and made a great cut at the end to put it in the end zone,” head coach Sean McDermott said during his postgame press conference. “I think that that one-two punch with the run game combined with the pass game, it’s just better complementary that way.”

It’s hard to imagine that the Bills will replicate the rushing performance against the Bengals in Week 17, and with Cook getting more and more looks in the backfield, there is a relatively low ceiling on either running back.

If you find yourself between the two running backs, go with Devin Singletary in fantasy football, but James Cook is showing that he may be the running back of the future in Buffalo.
