Eagles-Seahawks First Touchdown Picks for Week 15 Monday Night Football

History is on tap in the NFL, as for the first time ever, a game was flexed into Monday night. Of course, nothing comes easy in this league, and potentially both the Philadelphia Eagles and Seattle Seahawks could be starting backup quarterbacks. Geno Smith is still questionable, a true game-time decision before possibly giving way to Drew Lock. Jalen Hurts was downgraded to questionable with an illness, one so bad he had to travel separately from the rest of the team. Assuming both quarterbacks are in, here are the best Eagles-Seahawks first touchdown props for Monday night.

Eagles-Seahawks MNF First Touchdown Picks

Philadelphia Eagles Touchdown Scorer

Hurts is certainly due for a score. He carried the ball into the end zone in nine of 12 games before being shut out last week against the Cowboys. History this year would indicate he scores again. The problem is how the Eagles try and revamp their stalled offense, if it comes by forcing deep pass plays or methodically taking time to establish the run. The big-play route hasn’t worked well since every defense knows the ball is basically going to A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith or Dallas Goedert. While all three are talented, the play on Hurts to score first in the passing game is benefitting from a big play that comes up short. We all know who is getting the ball from the 3-yard line and in; even if Hurts doesn’t get it the first time, he will get it the second — or third. At +550 on BetMGM, Hurts is still worth a strong look, as he has a built-in play on the goal line and is one of the most dynamic athletes with the ball in his hands.

Seattle Seahawks First Touchdown Scorer

There are two strong spots to attack on Seattle’s side, as the Seahawks have a gift against the Eagles defense. Smith is on the list of odds, so the assumption is he will play, allowing for two guys to shine with tremendous value. The chalk play is DK Metcalf, the long shot is Noah Fant. The Eagles are so pathetic on defense that they had to demote their first-year defensive coordinator to the booth, bringing down failed head coach Matt Patricia to the sidelines. This, along with the loss of Darius Slay to arthroscopic knee surgery, is a massive disruption to an already-failing pass defense.

Metcalf should have his way with this secondary no matter the quarterback, as big plays should be plentiful for the Seattle receivers. There’s also Fant, a nice safety valve but also in position to exploit a major weakness. Of all the issues on defense, the Eagles have been atrocious defending the tight end. That doesn’t change with Patricia taking over — it might get worse with three talented receivers around Fant. He’s the best value on the board to notch his first touchdown of the year.
