Ryan Tannehill Injury News: Jaguars Favored over Titans in AFC South Odds

Coming into NFL Week 15, the Tennessee Titans were the heavy favorites to win the AFC South, but that dynamic has changed. Late Wednesday afternoon, ESPN reported that Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill will likely be out for the season after suffering an ankle injury during a 17-14 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers last Sunday. Following the Ryan Tannehill injury news, some sportsbooks now have the Jacksonville Jaguars favored in the AFC South odds.

Titans-Jaguars AFC South Odds

The Jaguars are down to -160 at Caesars Sportsbook, -145 at FanDuel, and -125 at PointsBet to win the AFC South. DraftKings at -125 and BetMGM at -115 still have Tennessee as a slight favorite.

The Titans as recently as three weeks ago were -1200 to win the division, and the Jaguars were as high as +1000. Tennessee has won the AFC South each of the past four seasons.

The Titans and Jaguars play each other at Jacksonville to finish the regular season in NFL Week 18. Jacksonville won 36-22 at Tennessee in Week 14.

Rookie Malik Willis will be the Titans starting quarterback Sunday against the Houston Texans, and Tennessee this week signed journeyman Josh Dobbs to fill out the depth chart.

Willis played two games when Tannehill was injured earlier this season but has not looked ready for the job. He is just 17 of 38 passing for 177 yards and one interception, with 80 yards rushing.

Tannehill missed just one offensive series after being injured against the Chargers and finished that game with the ankle taped up.

“We are never going to question his toughness or his willingness to get back and help us win,” Titans coach Mike Vrabel said of Tannehill to ESPN.

The Titans (7-7) led the Jaguars by four games before going on a four-game losing streak, which they will try to end against the Texans (1-12-1). Tennessee defeated Houston 17-10 with Willis at quarterback in Week 8.

While the Titans have been trending in the wrong direction, it’s been quite the opposite for the Jaguars (6-8). With Trevor Lawrence blossoming into a franchise quarterback, Jacksonville has been able to win three of its past four games, including a 40-34 OT victory against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 15.

Per DraftKings, the Jaguars are currently 1.5-point underdogs on the road against the New York Jets on Thursday Night Football in NFL Week 16. If looking to bet on the game, get a risk-free bet from MGM, and $25 no matter what.
