2023 NFL MVP Odds & Trends: Bettors Love Justin Fields

Per Caesars Sportsbook‘s Max Meyer, Justin Fields (40-1) has gotten the most 2023 NFL MVP bets placed on him since the wagering opened following the Super Bowl.

The Fields MVP bets are curious considering the fact that we still can’t be sure he’ll be the quarterback of the Bears next season. The dual-threat signal-caller showed some promise and hyped up the fan base this season, but the Bears also landed the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, meaning they’ll have the opportunity to select quarterbacks Bryce Young or CJ Stroud if they feel they’ll be getting an upgrade over Fields.

“I thought Justin did a good job,” Bears general manager Ryan Poles said during his end-of-season press conference, per the team’s website. “I thought we changed a lot, we adapted, we tried to put him in a position to be successful. He showed the ability to be a playmaker, be impactful. He can change games quickly. Does he have room to grow? He does. He has to get better as a passer, and I’m excited to see him take those steps as we move forward.”

In all likelihood, the Bears will stick with Justin Fields as their quarterback in 2023-24, making the first overall selection available to the many teams who are looking to select their franchise QB. Based on the early 2023 NFL MVP bets, bettors believe the Bears already have that guy on their roster.

It’ll be interesting to see what Poles and the Bears brass opt to do with the quarterback position this offseason.
