Rams-Seahawks Weather Report: Rain Could Slow Offenses in Seattle

The Seattle Seahawks can lock up a playoff spot with a win and a Green Bay Packers loss. Geno Smith and the offense will have the extra task of dealing with some rain on Sunday afternoon. The Rams-Seahawks weather report isn’t great — the forecast calls for rain showers from the morning through the afternoon.

Bettors looking for an edge on Sunday’s Rams-Seahawks game should keep an eye on the weather as the game’s 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff draws near. Although temperatures won’t drop low enough to turn this into a snow game, rain can still limit both offenses.

Rams-Seahawks Weather Report

The National Weather Service expects rain to start early Sunday morning. That rain should linger until after the Rams-Seahawks game concludes, forcing the Seahawks to fight for their season in unpleasant conditions.

Rain likely before 10am, then showers likely after 10am. Cloudy, with a high near 51. Light south southeast wind becoming south 5 to 10 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

The Weather Channel’s hourly forecast agrees. It calls for mild temperatures in the mid-to-upper 40s with winds blowing south at 10 mph by kickoff. Those winds aren’t strong enough to cause meaningful wind chill or to stymie both offenses, but they could make life slightly more difficult for the quarterbacks and kickers. Lumen Field has a north-south configuration, so each team will spend a half with the wind at their backs but a half with it in their faces.

The Weather Channel also calls for an 84% chance of rain an hour before kickoff, which drops to 53% at kickoff but remains no lower than 40% until the game’s conclusion. Neither team should leave Lumen Field soaked, but both Geno Smith and Baker Mayfield will probably end up throwing a wet ball around for most of the day. That could lead to more opportunities for running backs Kenneth Walker III and Cam Akers.

The NFL betting markets haven’t responded much to the threat of rain. The total sat at 42.5 on the lookahead market and has been trading at 42 for most of the week, which is where it currently sits at DraftKings Sportsbook. However, a look at the betting splits reveals this slight downtick has occurred despite 84% of the tickets backing the over, according to Pregame. Bettors eager to score a sight edge due to the weather should head to DraftKings to buy the under. New users can even secure $200 in bonus bets after placing a $5 wager!
