Best Eagles-Chiefs Passing Props: Jalen Hurts Outduels Patrick Mahomes

Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts were arguably the two best quarterbacks during the regular season and now will go to head-to-head for a Super Bowl ring. Both banged-up quarterbacks had a much-needed two weeks off after lingering injuries. Let’s dive into the Super Bowl passing props via FanDuel.

Jalen Hurts Player Prop: Player to Throw a Touchdown Pass First

This is more of a fade of the Kansas City Chiefs defense than Mahomes. The Chiefs allowed the most passing touchdowns in the NFL this season and will be starting two rookie cornerbacks in Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson. There’s no hiding that the two rookies have played exceptionally well this postseason. They held the Bengals duo of Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase to one touchdown, which came in the third quarter.

The Eagles, like the Bengals, have sensational wide receivers on the outside. A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith both ranked in the top 15 in touchdowns receiving for a combined 18, and both have deep ball potential. Hurts has had plenty of time to rest up his shoulder and showcase his deep ball, but he has been limited this postseason. The Eagles defense will try their best to limit Mahomes in the passing game; it is ranked top 15 in opponent red zone efficiency, while the Chiefs are the third worst.

Patrick Mahomes Player Prop: O/U 39.5 Pass Attempts

Mahomes and the Chiefs struggled on the ground, as rookie running back Isiah Pacheco was held to 2.6 yards per carry in the AFC Championship Game after being more than serviceable to end the regular season. The Eagles offense has two things in mind come Sunday: Score points and dominate time of possession like they have all season long. They had the ball for 61% of the game during the rout of 49ers in the NFC Championship Game due to all four of the Eagles rushers averaging at least 3.4 yards per carry. The recipe to beat this Chiefs team is to keep Mahomes off the field and get the offense long fields to operate.

The Chiefs will lean on Mahomes and his arm but have to mix in the run with Pacheco and Jerick McKinnon to keep the Eagles defense on its toes, with which it struggled to do against Saquon Barkley and Christian McCaffrey this postseason.
