The quarterbacks and running backs dominating four of the top five Super Bowl player props thus far shouldn’t come as too much of a shock as the spotlight normally falls on the top play-makers. But a Quez Watkins player prop having this much popularity might come as a surprise for some bettors.

Watkins comes into the Super Bowl LVII matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs after having just 33 receptions for 354 yards and three touchdowns during the regular season. His production has stayed minimal throughout the postseason with quarterback Jalen Hurts still showing signs that the shoulder injury suffered in Week 15 of the regular season. Watkins followed a two-reception game against the New York Giants in the last week of the regular season by hauling in zero passes in the two playoff games thus far. He has not had over 1.5 receptions in three of his past four games.

Zach Pascal, the Eagels’ fourth receiver on the depth chart, has out-snapped Watkins in the Divisional Round but had just 23 snaps to Watkins’ 42 in the Conference Championship. Watkins averaged 40 snaps this year, with Pascal in the 20-range. But Pascal been used as more of a run-blocking option over Watkins.

It’s easy to see why bettors are fading Quez Watkins on the early Super Bowl player prop market. Hurts had admitted he’s still hindered by the same shoulder injury, meaning Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni can likely game plan for another aggressive run-first attack, where Pascal has shown his worth over the past two games. Moreover, Watkins has not been highly effective when he does take the field, with A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert dominating the target load.

If the early Super Bowl player props are any indication, a lot of people will be happy if Quez Watkins doesn’t have much impact on Super Bowl LVII.
