Super Bowl MVP Odds: Jalen Hurts or Patrick Mahomes?

Per DraftKings, Jalen Hurts (+120) is the slight Super Bowl MVP favorite over Patrick Mahomes (+125). Check out the full Super Bowl MVP odds below:

Mahomes suffered a high ankle sprain in the AFC Divisional Round win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. He practiced throughout the week, but was clearly battling through the injury in the Conference Championship win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Mahomes still managed to complete 29 of 43 passes for 326 yards and two touchdowns in a gutsy effort.

"I want to thank God, man. He healed my body this week. Battled through that. He gave me the strength. ...We showed this place it's Arrowhead, it's not Burrowhead out here," Mahomes said in an 0n-field interview following the 23-20 win.

The Eagles were able to steamroll the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday afternoon without Hurts stuffing the stat sheet. He finished just 15 of 21 for 145 yards, no touchdowns, and no interceptions. But he was able to net 39 rushing yards and a touchdown.

"Reflecting on everything that we've been able to overcome, to have this opportunity in front of us, we want to take advantage of it," Hurts said, per the team's website. "The atmosphere tonight was amazing. The fans showed up, the energy, all of it. We need to bring that to AZ (the site of the Super Bowl)."

DraftKings has Hurts' Eagles listed as a slight 2.5-point favorite in the latest Super Bowl odds, which is likely why Jalen Hurts has the edge over Patrick Mahomes in the Super Bowl MVP odds. A quarterback has won the Super Bowl MVP honors in four of the last six years, although Los Angeles Rams receiver Cooper Kupp won the award last year. Mahomes took home the award when the Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers to win the 2020 Super Bowl.
