Giants-Commanders Weather Report: Will Conditions Factor Into SNF?

The New York Giants travel to FedExField to take on the Washington Commanders in a pivotal NFC East showdown on Sunday Night Football. Ahead of the prime time game, let’s take a look at the Giants-Commanders weather report and see if the teams are going to face some obstacles presented by Mother Nature.

Giants-Commanders Weather Report

Per The Weather Channel, the Giants-Commanders weather report calls for mostly clear conditions Sunday night, with temperatures reaching a low of 31 degrees and winds staying from 8-10 mph throughout the game, meaning players and fans taking in the action shouldn’t have to worry too much.

The Giants and Commanders have identical 7-5-1 records after tying in their Week 13 game when OT ended with a 20-20 score. It was the only outcome in the past four weeks that didn’t end in a loss for the Giants, who are clinging to their playoff hopes by a thread. Entering Sunday, the Commanders and Giants had the last two wild card spots in the NFC, but the Seattle Seahawks (7-7) and Detroit Lions (6-7) were lurking with only three weeks remaining after this one.

Even though the game marks the biggest of the season for both teams, Giants head coach Brian Daboll is making sure his players know it isn’t necessarily make-or-break.

“I’m not saying it’s right or wrong,” Daboll said of his reluctance to build up the game’s magnitude, via the New York Daily News. “That’s just my philosophy: Let’s focus on what we can control. How we prepare, play and coach, that’s what makes the difference. ‘What if this happens?’ None of that really matters.”

The Commanders began the season 2-5 with Carson Wentz at QB but have gotten a jolt since making the switch to Taylor Heinicke in Week 7. In his seven games, Heinicke has led the Commanders to a 5-1-1 record, winning three of the past four (including the tie).

With the Commanders and Giants trending in separate directions ahead of SNF, Washington sits as a 4.5-point favorite at home, per DraftKings.
