Best Braves-Giants Odds, Pick & Prediction

First Pitch: 7:10 p.m. ET
Venue: Oracle Park (San Francisco)
Probable Pitchers: Jared Shuster (ATL – LHP) at Tristan Beck (SF – RHP)

Current MLB odds have Atlanta favored at -120 on the moneyline for Sunday’s primetime matchup versus the Giants, with the game total at 10 runs.

The Braves are up to 84-44 on the year and have built up a staggering 13.5-game lead on the second-place Phillies in the NL East.

It’ll be southpaw Jared Shuster who gets the call for an Atlanta team looking for its fifth straight win. This will be his first MLB appearance since June — he’s 4-2 with a 5.00 ERA with a 25-to-22 strikeout-to-walk ratio across 45 innings so far in the majors. While Shuster has had a few dominant outings at the Triple-A level this season, he’s yet to find any semblance of consistency there either.

The Giants will counter with Tristan Beck, who’s making his first-ever MLB start. In 67.1 innings of relief this season, the 27-year-old righty has recorded a 3.34 ERA and a 57-to-18 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

It could be tough sledding for Beck and the rest of the San Francisco bullpen tonight. As a team the Braves are collectively hitting .274 with a .344 OBP and .499 SLG, and they’ve totaled an insane 243 home runs in 2023, which is at least 53 more than every other team in the bigs.

Matt Olson (43), Austin Riley (30), Ronald Acuna Jr. (28), Ozzie Albies (28), Marcell Ozuna (28), Eddie Rosario (20) and Sean Murphy (20) have all hit at least 20 homers this season, and Orlando Arcia (15) and Michael Harris II (12) haven’t been slouches in that department either. It’s downright scary what this Atlanta offense has been able to do night in and night out throughout the year.

This current winning streak obviously won’t last forever, but we don’t expect it to come to an end tonight. The Braves are playing too well to consider fading them with our MLB picks, as their league-leading offense should make up for Shuster if he continues to struggle on the mound.

Even with the Giants still battling for a playoff spot, we’re having a hard time putting our faith in them against the red-hot Braves. They’ve lost four of five and are 4-12 over their last 16 games to drop to 66-63 overall.

For Sunday Night Baseball, let’s back Atlanta to grab a fifth straight W (and the series sweep) at the short number on the road.
