Best MLB Player Prop: Josiah Gray| August 1

Josiah Gray Prop O/U 5.5 Hits Allowed

Josiah Gray, the Nationals lone All-Star representative, has been sneaky impressive in 2023. He has a 3.27 ERA that ranks him in the top 15 of all qualifying pitchers and a top-five WAR. He’ll bolster the Nationals rotation for years to come and is in a nice spot to continue his momentum tonight against the Milwaukee Brewers.

The knock through Gray’s first three seasons in the big leagues has been his walks. Thankfully for us bettors, this will not affect us. His 10.5 BB% ranks in the bottom 25 percentile in all of baseball and is averaging close to 2.5 walks per start. This limits him going deep into games as he’s failed to pitch a full six innings in more than half of his starts this season, Nonetheless, finding a way to back Gray is a must against a Brewers team that hit at a middle-of-the-league rate against RHP. They were issued a free pass at the third-highest rate and can ride Gray’s pitch count without getting hits. His earned run prop set at 2.5 is playable as well but you have to consider how many baserunners he’ll allow via the walk.

Gray’s .246 xBA% doesn’t bode well for bettors but he’s coming off two masterclass performances and even pitched well in the All-Star Game where he went one inning without allowing a baserunner. Gray is 10/21 to the under on this prop this season and will look to shut down a righty heavy Brewers lineup.
