Cody Bellinger O/U 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI
Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Mitch Keller threw a gem last night. He allowed just four hits in eight innings and prevented Cody Bellinger from finding the basepaths all night. Luckily for us, the matchup will be easier tonight. The Pirates will have Osvaldo Bido on the mound who will not be opening the game but will be the primary pitcher.
Bido has been dominated by left-handed hitters this season. He’s allowing them to reach base at a 37% clip including a batting average of .286, right in Bellinger’s wheelhouse. Bellinger and Bido have dulled off in their careers before with Bellinger putting together a hit in three at-bats. The rest of the Cubs order has seen Bido as well. The familiarity will do wonders for a Cubs team that is hitting at a top-11 clip against RHP this month.
We could only wish that Bellinger was seeing an LHP tonight. He has reverse splits and is hitting .333 against southpaws. Nonetheless, he’s still hitting over .300 against RHP this season and an even better .345 this month. He’s returned to MVP status and has crushed this line as of late. He’s eclipsed this line in six of his last 10 games and 18 of his last 30 on the road. The Cubs offense is due for an offense surge and five plate appearances isn’t out of the question for Bellinger hitting in the four-hole.
